My Life Choices

Friday, October 30, 2009 |

For my friends and family who are trying their best to understand why I make the choices I make, here’s a story that may help:

The Big Business Way

The American businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The Mexican replied only a little while.

The American then asked why didn't he stay out longer and catch more fish?

The Mexican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The American then asked, but what do you do with the rest of your time?

The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life, senor."

The American scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise."

The Mexican fisherman asked, "But senor, how long will this all take?"

To which the American replied, "15-20 years."

“But what then, senor?”

The American laughed and said, “That's the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions.”

“Millions, senor? Then what?”

The American said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos."

My dear friends, I’m already ‘living in a small coastal fishing village, sleeping late, fishing a little, playing with my kids, having a siesta with my wife, strolling to the village in the evenings where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos.’

I love my life! =D

I am lucky!

I feel like saying......these....:)

In your life, how many people you met can become your friends?
From all of these friends how many of them can be your close friends?
How many of them understand you?

And how many of them can really close to you or you can feel the connection even is been a while both you didn't meet up?

I am glad and happy for the peoples I know, whether they are my friends, relatives...whoever..
No matter when we plan to meet up, we can always be close like earlier days.. just like knowing each others for already 10years....I am glad and happy.

Recently had a gathering with my friends, and happy to meet up them. Good to see them healthy and happy.

Of cause, most important , I have her. She is my most important person in life.
She cares for me, no matter when , what, how... she always wants to know and make sure that I am OK. And the other way, I want her to be happy, so that I am happy. She makes sure I am happy , so she will be happy too. :)

-------------------------------------------------

Me , Lone , I am lucky person . I have lots friends , closed friends, family members that care for me so much! And .... Betty :)

All of us have different desire. You want something that might not the one I like. But I would say for Betty , the things that she likes , IS HEALTHY!!! Books, music, improvement (I love all these too because is healthy )not only in knowledge, also she also did helps me lot in my business, don't look at her and think she is just cute...

SHE IS MORE THAN WHAT YOU THINK!!!!!!!!!!

She is wise ( "smart not equal to wise" ), she has knowledge about health, music, business, and PEOPLE!

Well , this is just partly... I would say how many peoples (included Man and Woman ) in this world care to improving them self?? Ask...
I would ask myself.I always make sure I am improve!

Me..? May be some of you think that I am happy , funny, crazy...but if this is what you see me , DO YOU REALLY KNOW ME? LOL, is getting fun to talk about this..

But anyway, Betty does understand me, and me too, we both match! We have our own ability. With own power 2 become 1 , we can create magic!

COMMUNICATION and LISTENING!
Be good listener when you should listen, be good communicator when you should in the right time! No matter who you deal with or WHO YOU ARE. To learn the Art of Listening, sometimes is hard for me...:( I am still learning.

Betty and me , as days we together, we communicate, sharing thoughts....many etc..
We always talk , talk a lot. We love to talk when having dinner sometimes we can talk for 4hours. Is fun!

Another both of us always have it in our hand = H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S and M.U.S.I.C

Knowing her from day 1 til now is my best gifts to me . (My another gifts is my guitar skills :P )

Here, this post is for her Betty, and I love her! :)

Short Update

Friday, April 10, 2009 |

Lately, I’ve been using Twitter.com a lot. It’s great for me because I’ve been so busy and too tired to write long blog posts, but twittering 140-word updates are easy and fun. =)

But just in case you haven’t bothered to read the twitter updates on the sidebar, I’ll just repeat myself a little here.

I’ve moved to Lone’s place. Ok, actually, I’m still moving. I’ve got lots of stuff, so we’re taking our time to organize before we go back for more stuff.

And I won’t even say anything about the amount of books I have that we have to move… =P

The last time we blogged was a month ago! Wow!

Honestly, you don’t even know how tired I’ve been lately, with all the planning, and cleaning, and packing, and moving, and unpacking, and cleaning. And Lone’s even more exhausted coz he’s doing most of the heavy lifting.

Just give us a little time to get settled, then we’ll be back and blogging again. =)

Wonderful life

Monday, March 9, 2009 |

I've been spending a lot of time blogging about books on my bookblog at Betty's Books lately, and not much time blogging here.

Obviously that means that I have been spending most of my days being a boring stay-at-home reader than a happening party-girl, LOL! But that doesn't mean that my life has been boring at all, nope!

It just means that I read really fast!

And also, my life is so damn exciting now, I don't even know how to tell you!

As most people already know, Lone and I have gotten registered, meaning we're legally married now, but the wedding dinner will only be in January next year because it was the earliest we could book a place, and the best 'feng shui' date we could get.

And we're going to be picking the gowns tomorrow for the pre-wedding photo shoot for next week.

Ok, here's the truth, we haven't actually done much organizing for the wedding dinner yet, we haven't even figured out the guest list yet! And it's not because we think we have plenty of time, I know time flies past faster than you know, but it's because we've been busy with something else much more important in the long run.

A wedding dinner is one night.

Many people would say that it's a special one-time occasion only and that we should make it a memorable night and it's extremely important and blah blah blah....

It's not that I don't agree, but ok, I don't agree.

It's just one night, sure it's special, but it's not *that* special. I'm not a sentimental kind of girl, nor am I superstitious, and I only do the 'feng shui' thing because of family.

In fact, if it wasn't for family, I probably wouldn't even care about having a traditional wedding dinner at all, and I'd just have like a small, cozy celebration with just a few close family and friends.

Anyway, I digress. The wedding dinner is important, sure. But what Lone and I are involved in right now is for the rest of our future, not just one night, but forever.

We're planning to migrate to Canada.

Seriously. We're just getting all the all the documents ready at this point, there's a LOT of paperwork to be done. And when we've got everything ready, then we'll submit our application.

It's really quite tedious, the whole process, and we're not sure how long it's going to take, but Lone and I have done all our necessary research and we're quite adamant about migrating.

So yeah, we're gonna plan the guest list for our wedding dinner, and probably everything else we need soon, but Canada's got the priority right now.

We'll miss our family and friends, and we'll miss Malaysia, but there are things waiting for us in Canada, and so much to look forward to there.

I can't wait!

Mom's Birthday!!!

Tuesday, March 3, 2009 |

On 20th Feb was my mom's birthday, my brother Alwin and the family had good dinner few days back , (I was busy on that day) and now is me and Betty turns to have good lunch with her!! Haha!!

We bring mom to have steamboat n BBQ, is our favorite place! And I know mom will enjoy it too. Is full of veges, ad bit of meat! Just nice for the lunch! :)

Good to see her happy , and I want all the people that I care , get healthy!!! Because I love them!!!

Mom!!! We wishing you HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Bird nest with egg

Sunday, March 1, 2009 |

This morning, my dad checking his gardening area, there's a pot of flowers, with special gift.
Guess what? Egg. Bird's egg. Hahaha, so cuteeeeeeeee!!! And I took a pic. Bird nest with egg.

Love is in the Air

Saturday, February 14, 2009 |

Since it's Valentine's Day, I thought it would be appropriate to post about our marriage registration today. =)

Yes! Lone and I have registered for marriage, we're legally married now!

Please don't cry, Johnny Depp, you know you'll always be in my heart! =D

No, we didn't register today, can you imagine registering on Valentine's Day, and forever after having to share your anniversary with every other couple in the world and paying exorbitant prices for a nice dinner and/or flowers and chocolates?

Nope, don't want that.

I'm actually not a fan of Valentine's Day, and I make sure Lone *never* buys me flowers or anything at all on this day. Do you know how many books I could buy with that money? Wasted on flowers that are going to wilt and die?

LOL!

Ok, let me clarify that I'm actually quite the hopeless romantic, and I love romance and love stories perhaps even more than the average girl! I just don't think there's anything romantic about our now very VERY commercialized Valentine's Day, though I actually love Valentine's Day itself.

But I digress! Today isn't a day for me to complain about the commercialism of a perfectly great Saint's day that was ruined by the modern man, today is a day for me to tell the world that we're no longer single. =)

But always available!

Anyway, we've registered, but the wedding dinner is only going to be held next year in January because we couldn't get any good dates this year.

I wanted to post the pictures of our registration too, but I have no idea where Lone put them. We'll ask him to post the pictures later, ok? =)

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

The Year 2008

Thursday, January 1, 2009 |

Last year (2007), Lone and I reflected on the things we achieved in that year and what we were proud of. It's time for us to reflect again, on the year 2008, and the things we are proud to have achieved. In no particular order, 13 things we are proud to have achieved in 2008:

  • We performed in Planet Hollywood.
  • We got engaged.
  • We got sole distributorship of a very good guitar pedal brand for the whole of Malaysia.
  • I started a book club in Klang Valley.
  • I started an online book club with real-time chats.
  • Getting more than 1000 visitors to our blogs.
  • I made so many new friends, both in real life and online.
  • Creating a great company site for our business.
  • Learning new things everyday.
  • Performing in KL for Christmas and New Year's eve.
  • Giving health talks and presentations to my dad's customers at his office.
  • Finally getting started on my book project.
  • Loving much and laughing often.

2008 was a great year!

As I've said before, there are a lot of small and intangible things, and some which are difficult to express, but as per my now famous motto: As long as I'm better today than I was yesterday, and better tomorrow than I am today, no matter how small the improvement, I'm doing great. And I am proud of all the things we've achieved last year.

I am so looking forward to more great stuff in 2009, and believe me, 2009 is going to be spectacular!

Right off the bat, I can tell you that next year when I write the list of things we're happy to achieve in 2009, one of them will be that Lone and I got married. =) Ok, I know that's cheating, but it's still an achievement. LOL!

It is great to be alive!

Just to let you know...

Wednesday, December 24, 2008 |

Just a quick note to say that these last couple of days, and for the rest of this and next week, we've been really crazy busy.

Been looking around for wedding venues, and getting ready for xmas and new year's eve performances, and shopping for xmas presents, and many many many things!

I think most of you can relate. =)

So anyway, we're pretty much busy everyday until January 11th next year, so if we don't blog before then, just know that we're thinking about you, and we miss you all! =)

Have a very Merry Christmas and a extremely Happy and Prosperous New Year!!

Wedding Venue

Saturday, August 2, 2008 |

It's not easy trying to keep up with everything, and yet I still insist on doing so.

I could make life easier for myself by giving up on certain things, but I won't, because some things I'm just not willing to give up on.

Of course, sometimes things get backed up, and right now at the moment I have so many things in the pipeline just waiting to be done, and all I can do is take one thing at a time and finish one task at a time.

I think I'm doing pretty well, in fact. As well as can be, considering everything. =)

Lone and I have decided on next year December for our wedding, but we haven't found a venue yet. We don't want hotels or Chinese restaurants. Anyone has any suggestions for us?

Betty and Veronica

Saturday, June 28, 2008 |

A couple of days ago, Lone and I had a conversation that tickled me to the bone, because I'm a big fan of the Archie comics. *grin*

So you see, Lone and I were talking about names, and I said I loved female names that could be shortened into masculine names, ei. Joe for Josephine, Sam for Samantha, and etc.

Then Lone mentioned his sister-in-law, as in his brother's wife, who went by the name of Ron, short for Veronica.

And since my name is Betty and I love the Archie comics, I always look for connections between myself and girls named Veronica.

I went, how nice, Betty and Veronica ends up marrying brothers (Lone and his brother). And then I said, if only your names were Archie.

And then, I stopped. And Lone looked at me, and I started laughing like a madwoman! Because I realized that their surname was Chu, as in Ah Chu (Archie)!!!!!

So Betty and Veronica both married Archie!!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!!!

The best part is, I've always wanted a resolution in the age-old question of who Archie marries in the end, and it is *never* ever answered! And now that *both* Betty and Veronica marries Archie, I guess God just doesn't want to give us the answer. LOLOLOL!!!!

I'm so lame.

Zen-ness

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 |

After my tirade yesterday, I tired myself out with all the stressing and worrying, so I decided no more negative thoughts!

I will block all negative thoughts and people from my life.

And become Zen-like....

And boring...

LOL!

Ok, not really. I will definitely not become Zen-like, but I will try to be as positive and exciting as I can. I mean, who says that positive people can't be interesting? =P

Imagine my new-found positivity causing me to win a lottery of 10 million dollars!! Woo hoo!! I bet I won't be boring anymore! LOL!

Especially since I don't buy lottery tickets, so winning a 10 million dollar lottery would definitely be interesting.

Anyway...I digress, as usual.

What I want to do today, is list up 10 things that I'm grateful for. So here they are:

  1. I am grateful for the most wonderful-est, special-est, talented-est, loving-est, romantic-est, fiance in the whole wide world!
  2. I am grateful for a family that love me and only want the best for me.
  3. I am grateful that I have a brilliant brain that enables me to learn more and improve everyday of my life.
  4. I am grateful for all the wealth and opportunities that come my way everyday.
  5. I am grateful for the growth and progress of our business that we love and enjoy.
  6. I am grateful for having the best friends a girl could have.
  7. I am grateful for all the books I've read that have contributed in making me who I am today.
  8. I am grateful for having the opportunity to meet such inspiring people and wonderful new friends.
  9. I am grateful for the two wonderful puppies that constantly brighten up my days.
  10. I am grateful for my skills and talents, and the ability to be able to realize their potentials.
Well, actually I have a lot more to be grateful for, but some of them are too detailed.

Bottom line is, I have a wonderful, wonderful life, filled to the brim with wonderful things. And even though sometimes it seems that they may overflow, I love everything I have, everyday I live. And I honestly feel so lucky, so amazed, that all my dreams are coming true.

(in zen pose)*bliss*

=)

Enough already!

|

Every time I start to relax, I'm reminded that I have too many things to do.

My father has been pressuring me about my health studies, asking me why am I doing it so slow, and yet at the same time acknowledging that I'm doing it part-time...

He really confuses me sometimes...

I told him I have a *lot* of things to do, not just study. I'm working with Lone to build up our business, and I'm working constantly on several side businesses as well, not to mention working on making my dreams come true (which involve a lot of foundation work that doesn't show immediate results).

Not to mention a lot of personal stuff that I need to get done as well... My library still needs to be organized, I get sent on household errands a lot (just because I work at home! Arrghh!), and Lone and I are just only starting to organize for our big day next year.

Oh, yes, we're getting married, by the way. =)

Anyway, more on that later, nothing much to say about it now, since we're only just planning about the planning.

So yeah, apparently I'm too slow in my *part-time* studies, and I need to prioritize. Um...I *do* prioritize.

I love studying health and I'm really into my course, but building up our business is much more important now, since we need to earn more money for our wedding and our future, which of course, means that building up my other side businesses is also more important.

That doesn't mean that I'm not studying!

It will kill me if I have to do this, but I may have to put aside my dreams! (because I have nobody to answer to except myself when it comes to my own personal dreams, but they *should* be at the highest priority, shouldn't they?) so that I can spend more time with our businesses and with my studies.

I'm not slow! I'm just not fast. =P

And I'm unwilling to give anything up! I want it all!

Yes, I want to have my cake and eat it too, and I want to be able to do all the things I want to do, because they are all important to me!

I just need everyone to stop with the pressure! I'm doing the best I can!

I love studying, and if I wasn't doing my course now, I will eventually take it up again in the future. But we've already paid, and I'm committed to it, and I'm enjoying it! I just need to be able to go my own pace!

Because truth be told, out of everything I'm doing now, studying is the least important. And if I really *have* to give up something, I would prefer that studying be it.

But it is still important, and I am still committed, and I want to do it! But I want to do it MY WAY! Even my college isn't pressuring me about my pace! It's a self-paced course and I have 5 years to finish it, and they recognize that we're doing it part-time.

I try to allow myself to relax, because I'm so busy and feel so guilty if I'm not doing something productive 24 hours a day that sometimes I'm afraid I may go crazy.

And I hate it that my work goes unrecognized by everyone except Lone, just because I work *mostly* at home.

WORKING AT HOME MEANS I *WORK* AT HOME, IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT I SIT IN FRONT OF THE TV WITH NOTHING TO DO EXCEPT WAIT FOR YOU TO GIVE ME SOME CHORE!

*HIGH-PITCHED FRUSTRATED SCREAM!*

I need a holiday...=(

Nothing yet

Wednesday, June 18, 2008 |

I haven't recovered yet!

I'm still too tired out to post about my brother's wedding, though I'm well enough to say that it was wonderful and really, really, touching. =)

I don't really have the any of the pix anyway, coz Lone still has my camera. =P Ok, he's actually posted up the pix in facebook, but I'm too lazy to link to them now, and anyway, it's more fun posting them up here. But I'm too tired now. =P

Soooooo......... be patient.

On another note, I loved the hairdo that the hairstylist did for me for my brother's wedding so much that I went to perm my hair Sunday after the wedding!

I'm impulsive like that. Though not really.

I spend months and months playing with the idea of cutting/dyeing/perming/whatever-ing my hair, and then one day when I decide that I should, I do it immediately.

Gives my boring life the illusion of being exciting.

Ok, that's it for now.

Too lazy to say much more. =P

Saturday's event

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 |

So my brother's wedding is this Saturday, how fast time flies... =)

Everything is mostly done, there's just a couple of last minute stuff I have to get done in the next couple of days. And then, on Friday night/Saturday, it's just going with the flow (probably a really heavy current) all the way.

We're all going to be exhausted, but I'm pretty sure we're all going to be really glad to have gotten it all over with, and then life can get back to normal. LOL!

Well...until it starts all over again.

Anyway... my own personal pledge to myself, after Saturday's over, I'm going to take one full day off, no studies, no working, no business, nothing! Except just laying in bed and reading fairy-tales. No non-fiction! =P

Mind, Body, Heart and Soul

Monday, April 28, 2008 |

It's been awhile since I last blogged about my thoughts and feelings...

It's been awhile since I had the time to really think about how I feel...

I've been so busy lately, with so many things to plan, work, and do, that I haven't really allocated any time for self-reflection or meditation, or just a simple and relaxing me-time.

Mentally, I've been busy like nobody's business. My brain has been working non-stop for the last couple of months. Trying to think up ideas, plans, and modes of execution, for projects at work, for my college projects, for my writing projects, for the band, and for the business. It's exhausting, but it's a good kind of exhausting because I feel so accomplished. I also know though, that I need to let my brain rest and not think of solving problems all the time.

Physically, other than the exercise I get when I sing and dance during our band sessions, I have not had the time (or the energy) to exercise at all lately, and I've put on some weight(!). Especially since now I'm mostly sitting and working at the office, I can't even use the exercise bike and read my textbooks like I used to. Not happy with the results here.

Emotionally, I've been really happy, but just a tiny bit hassled because of all the work I have to do. The bf and I spend a lot of time together, but a lot of it is spent discussing work. Still I would say that we're both very, very, healthy emotionally. I'm happy almost every minute of the days, with minimal complaints. The great thing about our relationship is that although we're both busy doing the work that we need to do, we still find little pockets of time in between, special moments where we still giggle and laugh like a new couple, and tell each other how much we love and appreciate one another (and still mean it!). No complaints here, but of course, you can never have too much love and happiness. =) (Let's continue to increase these everyday, dear!)

Spiritually, unfortunately...I've been neglecting. Other than the 'you are my heart and soul' part of spirituality, I haven't done anything at all for a long time, to feed my spiritual needs. I haven't really prayed, or meditated, or done any of the rituals I used to do, or developed any part of myself spiritually at all. Those who know me intimately know that spirituality is one of the most important aspects of who I really am, and to have neglected this part of myself is very frustrating and dissapointing to me. I have no excuse to give, nor am I trying to guilt myself. It is simply a fact. I have been neglecting this part of myself, and I am seriously disappointed in myself. That's it. Will I do something about it? Do I have the time? These questions are irrelevant, because you will always find the time to do the things you really want to. It merely depends on what you choose your priorities to be.

If I decide that I have more important priorities at the moment, I will continue to neglect spirituality, and I will be disappointed, but I will accept it. That goes for everything else. I have had to give up certain things I wanted to do, because there are other things that are more important at the moment. It's a choice, and I'm completely in control, so there's no reason to beat myself up over it. If I decide, however, that I do not want to ignore this aspect of my life, I will spend more time on it, and I will accept the other consequences I have to face. And I will accept that choice as well.

Anyway, I feel like I'm becoming too serious for my own good. I think for my next few posts, I'm going to have to take those cutesy and fun online personality quizes and post them up here just to lighten things up a bit.

Maybe I'll even write a funny short story or something...
